Kalle Kurppa is an M.D., Ph.D., and Professor of Pediatrics. The studies by Prof. Kalle Kurppa focus on the clinical, immunological and genetic aspects of celiac disease and type 1 diabetes. Examples of his projects include effect of screening on the long-term health of the patients, improved transition from pediatrics to adult care, and development of better serological, immunological, and imaging methods for the diagnosis of celiac disease. Recent projects aim particularly to provide efficient secondary and primary preventions for immune-mediated diseases. Prof. Kurppa has a wide international collaboration, including participation in the distinguished DIPP, TEDDY- and HEDIMED projects. He has authored >150 scientific publications.
