Matti Nykter

Prof Matti Nykter received his D.Sc (Tech) degree from Tampere University of Technology, Finland. He completed post-doctoral research at the Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle, WA, USA. Since 2013 he has acted as a professor of Bioinformatics at the Tampere University and led a computational biology research group. His research focuses on understanding the evolution and treatment resistance in prostate cancer.  More specifically, he studies how aberrant gene regulatory mechanisms are driving the aggressive phenotypes of the disease. To reach this goal, new algorithms and computational models are developed and applied to high throughput data. Within the computational biology group, we integrate both experimental and computational approaches and expertise.
